Insights and Resources

This hub brings together my latest reflections and thoughts on geography education, curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment. I use it to explore current developments across the subject, share perspectives informed by my own classroom and leadership experience, and reflect on the ideas, research and debates shaping geography education today. You will find articles and shorter updates on curriculum design, subject knowledge, assessment, classroom practice, fieldwork, geographical thinking and wider educational change.

I share content through my blog, Substack, LinkedIn and X, alongside a small but growing collection of free resources designed to support geography teachers, departments and students.

Teaching and Learning Resources

Research, ideas and practical guidance for classroom practice

This page brings together a curated selection of articles, research, websites, books and practical resources that I have found particularly useful in shaping my thinking about teaching and learning. It includes perspectives from researchers, teachers, writers and educational organisations, drawing on both influential established work and more recent thinking.

The collection covers curriculum development, pedagogy, assessment, geographical thinking, fieldwork, subject leadership, GIS, AI and educational technology. Some resources provide a useful introduction to an idea, while others offer more detailed analysis, practical examples or opportunities for further reflection.

It is not intended to be a comprehensive or definitive list, but a selective and evolving collection of resources that may be useful to teachers, subject leaders and departments as they reflect on their own context and priorities.
