Supporting curriculum and qualification change
The coming period will be an important one for Geography education. The public consultation expected in autumn 2026 will provide the first opportunity to examine the proposed changes in detail and begin preparing for a revised national curriculum, followed by new GCSEs and A levels.

These reforms create opportunities to strengthen disciplinary thinking, climate and sustainability education, fieldwork, progression and real-world relevance.
